During Week 3 we are focusing on being "healthy". The children have been asked to plan and prepare (with your help) a healthy meal for the family. This can be breakfast, lunch or dinner. They then need to take a photo of the meal on their iPad to share with the class. During Show and Share they can show their photo and share what meal they made and explain why it is a healthy meal. Our excursion to Casey Safety Village is Wednesday 18th of February and it will form an important component of our current unit of inquiry - I'm In Charge. We will require 4 parent helpers from each classroom to be traffic wardens at the Village, so if you would like to be involved please let your classroom teacher know as soon as possible.
The children need to wear their sports uniform on the 18.2.15 and bring their drink bottle, snack and fruit in a small backpack. Bikes and bike helmets are supplied by the Safety Village as part of the road safety lesson. The children are welcome to bring their own bike helmet but they must display and comply with the Australian Standard sticker, be in a safe condition and correctly adjusted. We will return to Cornish in time for lunch.
Speaking of lunch, our nude food classrooms are fast becoming a reality thanks to your support. The students are keen to take over the role of "Nude Food Warriors" from the 2014 Year 1s and make the whole school wrapper free. They are committed to using the recycling bins correctly and assisting others to do the same.
Thank you to everyone who has returned their permission forms for the excursion. If you haven't done so please return it as soon as possible. Thank you also to everyone who has volunteered to hear the children read or has made playdoh. Your time and effort is much appreciated.
Finally, please bring in a pair of gumboots for your child and place them on the rack outside your classroom. We always wear our gumboots whenever we are walking around the property and we are out on the property at least twice a week.
Have a lovely weekend!
